YYNOT formed in Los Angeles in the late 2000s around vocalist and guitarist Sam Blasucci and bassist Daniel Martineau. Their name hints at the cosmic themes that run through their music, which blends indie rock with atmospheric electronics. Drummer Jonte Zilber rounds out the core trio.
Their debut EP was called 'Other Worlds,' and they followed it with the full-length album 'Another Trip Around the Sun.' That record's title track, along with songs like 'Kingdom Come' and 'She Said I Love The Rain,' showcase their spacious, layered sound. They've since released other albums including 'The Heavens' and 'The Void.'
While they've drawn comparisons to bands like My Bloody Valentine and Radiohead for their textural approach, YYNOT has largely operated outside the mainstream spotlight. They've maintained a consistent lineup and kept working on their own terms, building a catalog that leans into introspection and expansive arrangements.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
