Z Berg formed in Seattle in the early 2010s with Zach Berg on vocals and guitar, Kyle Rasmussen on bass, and Michael Raymond on drums. They released their first EP 'Burner' in 2013, followed by the album 'Down to the Wire' the next year. Ryan Ross, who played guitar with Panic! at the Disco, sometimes joined them on stage and in the studio.
Their 2017 single 'The Bad List' featured Ryan Ross on guest vocals and became their most recognizable track. The band's earlier EP 'Save the Day' came out in 2015.
Z Berg's music tends toward indie rock with straightforward arrangements and lyrics that lean into personal reflection. Songs like 'I Go To Sleep' and 'I Fall For The Same Face Every Time' show their preference for direct, unadorned writing over production flourishes. They kept playing shows and putting out records through the 2010s.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
