Background notes

Archive material and source history

Z G·A·B·O formed in Buenos Aires in the late 1990s with four musicians: Gustavo "Gabo" Bazán on vocals and guitar, Ariel Alter on bass, Benjamin Azar on keyboards, and Omar Ocampo on drums. Their first album, "Generación de Adoración y Bendición," came out in 1998 and established them in Latin American Christian music.

They're best known for "La Gran Comisión," a 2003 song about evangelism that sparked debate within Christian circles. While some listeners appreciated its direct message, others found it too forceful. The band faced criticism at times about whether their music leaned more toward pop than worship, but they kept recording.

After that period, they put out albums like "Adoración Extrema," "El Sonido del Cielo," and "Vida Abundante." Their sound worked for audiences across different church backgrounds, and "La Gran Comisión" remained their most recognized track.
