Zaadi 1 formed in Salvador, Bahia in 2005 with Fred Andrade, Charles Santos, Henrique Melo, and Wellington Esteves. They started playing local bars and street corners, mixing reggae, soul, and Brazilian popular music. Their 2010 single "Diz Que Eu Tenho Sorte" became a national hit, with its rhythm and lyrics about resilience connecting with listeners.
Their music sometimes addressed social issues, which led to some criticism and accusations of political bias. They kept writing songs like "Quem Está No Poder É Mau" and "Sentir Explica" while staying committed to their approach. They released albums including "Zaadi 1" in 2010, "Nossa Vez" in 2013, and "Daquele Jeito" in 2016.
Over time, they collaborated with artists like Carlinhos Brown, Lenine, and Daniela Mercury. The members also worked on solo projects while continuing with the band.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
