Zabala e Zé Trovão were a Brazilian duo active in the 1990s, known for their song "Angélica." Zabala was born Zabelê de Lima, a self-taught singer-songwriter, and Zé Trovão was born José Carlos Monteiro, a guitarist and composer. They released their first album in 1993.
Their music, including tracks like "Cheiro de Hortelã" and "Bate, Bate Coração," gained attention despite some skepticism from critics. They built a following through live performances. The duo released several albums, including "Dois Corações" in 1995 and "Histórias de Amor" in 1997.
"Angélica" became their most notable song, with rumors about its inspiration that the duo never fully addressed. They disbanded in 2004, with Zabala pursuing a solo career and Zé Trovão continuing to compose and perform.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
