Zabarjad formed in Iran in the late 1990s with four members: Alireza Asgari on vocals, Mehrdad Minavand on bass, Mohammad Reza Nejad on drums, and Pejman Tezrooh on guitar. Their debut album 'Karam' came out in 1999, and its title track became widely known in Iran.
They released six studio albums between 1999 and 2014, including 'Zabarjad 2' in 2001 and 'Ghalam' in 2004. Their music mixed Persian melodies with Western pop and rock elements, which sometimes drew criticism from conservative circles in Iran while finding an audience among younger listeners.
Asgari's voice defined much of their sound, with Tezrooh's guitar work adding rock textures and Minavand's basslines providing structure. The band stopped releasing new music after 2014, but their recordings from that period remain available.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
