Zabou formed in the early 1990s with singer Géraldine Danon, guitarist Olivier Maranelli, bassist Nicolas Brossard, and drummer Christophe Deschamps. They released their self-titled debut album in 1993, followed by 'Le Jardin' in 1995 and 'Au Bord du Ciel' in 1998.
Their song 'Adélaïde' became their most recognizable track, though it faced radio bans in France in 1998 over its lyrics. The band argued the song was meant to provoke thought rather than exploit listeners. Another notable track from their catalog is 'Billy Ze Kick'.
Zabou worked with other French artists including Alain Souchon, Jacques Higelin, and Florent Pagny during their active years. They released their final album 'Sans Toi' in 2002.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
