Zabumba Beach

Zabumba Beach formed in Salvador, Bahia in the early 2000s around Leonardo Almeida on vocals and guitar, Marcelo Seco on bass, and Mateus Asato on drums. They started by playing live shows that mixed traditional axé and forró with pop and reggae, eventually building a following. Their song "Por que Você Não Liga Mais Pra Mim?" became particularly well-known, touching on themes of love and relationships that run through much of their work.

Other songs like "Reggae No Litoral" and "Xote Do Zabumba" show their blend of coastal rhythms with Brazilian pop forms. The band has expanded to include musicians like Pedro Lima on keyboards and vocals, Rafael Possebon on percussion, and Vinicius Leão on trumpet.

While their existing biography mentions some socio-political themes in their lyrics, the music itself tends to focus on personal connections and everyday scenes. They've worked with other Brazilian artists, but their sound remains rooted in those early influences from Bahia. They put out another album called "Axé do Amor" in 2023, continuing with the style they've developed over two decades.
