Zabumbahia formed in 1997 in Salvador, Bahia. Their debut album came out in 2001, and they've released several others since, including Força Deste Povo in 2003 and Baiana Roots in 2010.
Their song 'Monga, A Mulher Macaco' became particularly well-known. Other tracks like 'Minha Moreninha' and 'Cheirinho de Flor' show their range within Afro-Brazilian rhythms.
The existing history mentions collaborations with artists like Carlinhos Brown, Caetano Veloso, and Gilberto Gil. Their lyrics have sometimes sparked discussion about social issues in Brazil.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
