Zac Ferraz is a Brazilian singer-songwriter from Recife, born in 1988. He grew up hearing the local rhythms of samba, frevo, and maracatu, and later drew inspiration from artists like Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, and Chico Buarque. He started performing at local open mics before releasing his debut EP, 'Tempo,' in 2015.
That EP's lead single, 'A Noite Toda,' became a hit and brought him national attention. He followed it with albums like 'Histórias Reais' in 2017 and 'Ponto de Equilíbrio' in 2021. Other songs like 'Doida Pra Beijar' and 'Quem Sabe Um Anjo' also became popular.
He has worked with other Brazilian musicians including Iza, Jorge Ben Jor, and Seu Jorge. His band includes Bruno Batista on guitar, Lucas Santana on bass, Gabriel Barbosa on drums, and Thiago Barbosa on keyboards. In 2019, he faced criticism for comments about the LGBTQ+ community, which he later apologized for, and he has since addressed social issues like racism and environmental conservation in his music.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
