Zac Seif's debut single "I Can't Survive" came out in 2015 and found an audience with its direct, personal lyrics. He's since put out albums like The Broken Heart Diaries and Whispers of the Soul, and songs like "Lately" and "You Almost Had Me" follow a similar pattern of straightforward emotional writing.
He's been open about dealing with mental health issues, which comes through in the material. The music tends to work in a space between folk introspection and something more broadly melodic, without much studio polish getting in the way.
When he plays live, he's often backed by guitarist Ethan James, bassist Michael Davis, and drummer Emily Carter. He's also recorded with Sara Bareilles and John Mayer at different points.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
