Zacaria Ferreira is a Dominican singer and composer who started writing songs in his teens, drawing from traditional bachata and bolero melodies. He was born in Santo Domingo in 1971 and released his self-titled debut album in 1996, which helped establish him as a presence in the genre.
His 2000 album "Quiéreme" reached audiences beyond the Dominican Republic, including listeners in Europe and the United States. Songs like "Dime Que Falto" show his style of romantic bachata ballads, delivered with a soulful vocal approach that connected with fans.
In 2006, Ferreira faced plagiarism accusations over a melody, which led to a legal dispute before he was cleared. He has also spoken about dealing with alcoholism and depression at different points. He continued releasing albums, including "El Amor" in 2006 and "Todo Tiene Su Hora" in 2015.
