Zafiro Sensual came out of the Dominican Republic in the late 1990s, led by vocalist Ángel Fernández. Their sound mixed merengue and bachata, and they found quick attention with the single "Dime La Verdad." That song became a hit and put them on the map.
In 2001, the band got tangled in a legal fight over copyright claims on "Dime La Verdad." They came through it, but the dispute was a notable bump. Their albums include Dime La Verdad from 1998, Zafiro Sensual from 2001, and later ones like Sin Fronteras and El Poder de la Pasión.
Other songs like "Vete Ya" and "Por Amarte Así" kept their sound in rotation. The group has seen some lineup shifts over time, with members like David Monsanto on guitar and Edward Palmer on drums. They've worked with artists including Gilberto Santa Rosa and Víctor Manuelle.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
