Zamir e Zimar formed in 2003 in Salvador, Bahia, with brothers Zamir and Zimar Fernandes at the core. Their song 'Ei Mamãe' became a breakout hit in 2005, built around an infectious samba rhythm that caught on widely. They've also recorded tracks like 'Minha Vizinha' and 'Ramo Verde'.
Their debut album was called 'O Abraço do Samba,' and they followed it with releases like 'Samba do Bem' and 'O Show do Samba.' The band includes Carlos Ezzequiel on drums, Samuel Cruz on bass, and Ricardo Oliveira on keyboards alongside the Fernandes brothers.
In 2010, Zamir was arrested for drug possession, an incident that drew public attention. He went through rehabilitation and returned to the group. They've worked with artists including Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
