Zanato formed in São Paulo in 1981, with Michel Zanato on vocals, Paulo Guilherme on guitar, Michel Gurfinkel on bass, and Carlos Alberto Costa on drums. They were part of the city's counterculture scene at the time.
In 1986, the band released the album 'A Simple Man,' which included the title track that became their breakthrough. The song helped bring them national attention in Brazil.
They kept recording over the following decades, putting out albums like 'Estado de Euforia' in 1991, 'Autofalante' in 1999, and 'Quando a Chuva Passar' in 2013. Their music mixed rock with folk and alternative sounds, with lyrics that often dealt with personal and emotional themes.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
