Zandú

Zandú was a Spanish rock band from Madrid that formed in 1982. They came out of the post-punk scene with a raw, aggressive sound that drew from punk influences. Their lyrics often dealt with political and social themes that felt urgent at the time.

Their debut album, "La Caída de la Casa Usher," came out in 1984 and included the song "Morderte." That track became their most well-known work, partly because its graphic depiction of violence sparked debate about censorship and artistic expression. It polarized listeners but also found an audience among those who felt alienated from mainstream culture.

They released several more albums through the late 1980s and early 1990s, including "El Grito" and "El Círculo." Their stage shows were confrontational, and they faced criticism for what some saw as glorifying antisocial behavior. The band didn't really soften their approach in response.

While their influence on later Spanish rock is often mentioned, what's clearer is that songs like "Te Estoy Amando" and "Morderte" captured a specific, defiant energy from that period. Their music wasn't trying to be widely palatable, and that's part of what gave it weight for their listeners.
