Zandy formed in Brazil during the 1990s with Pedro Faria on vocals and guitar, Fabrício Nóbrega on bass and vocals, and Rodrigo Faria on drums. They started playing local bars and small venues. Their debut album 'Despertar' came out in 1998, and the song 'Banda da Noite' from that record became a major hit.
That song, along with tracks like 'Linda' and 'O Amor é Assim,' helped define their sound, which mixed rock and pop with Brazilian elements. The band's lineup stayed mostly the same for years, though Rodrigo Faria left in 2005, which led to a short break before they continued with a different drummer.
They put out six studio albums in total. Beyond 'Banda da Noite,' songs such as 'Madrugada' and 'Na maré' have remained on radio playlists and at live shows. The group kept performing and recording, maintaining a presence without much dramatic fanfare.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
