Zanini formed in Milan in 1969. Their debut album came out in 1971, featuring the song "C'est la barque du rêve." They released several more records through the 1970s, including "La casa elettrica" in 1972 and "Ugo" in 1974.
Fausto Zanini sang and wrote songs for the group. Giorgio Zanini played multiple instruments and wrote lyrics. Marco Zanini played drums, and Luca Taruffi played bass. Their music drew from psychedelic and progressive rock.
Some of their other songs include "My baby ne pense qu'à moi" and "Tu veux, tu veux pas (Tu veux ou tu veux pas)." Their lyrics often dealt with dreams and surreal imagery. Critics sometimes found their work too abstract for mainstream listeners.
Zanini developed a cult following over time. Their live shows were known for creating a hypnotic atmosphere. The band's recordings from the 1970s continue to find listeners interested in Italian psychedelic and progressive rock.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
