Zanister formed in New York City in the early 2000s, with Nathan "Razor" Blade on vocals and guitar, Ethan "Viper" Cole on drums, and Emily "Raven" Dark on bass. They released their debut album Shadows of the Past in 2003, which established their brooding, melodic metal sound.
They followed with Echoes of Despair in 2009 and The Abyss Within in 2013.
Other songs from their catalog include "Egyptian Nights," "Fear No Man," and "Hell On Earth." The band's music often explored dark, introspective themes over heavy guitar work and driving rhythms.
