Zapato 3 formed in Mexico City in the early 2000s with Carlos Orozco and Mauricio Garza on vocals and guitar, plus bassist Pablo Castañón. They put out their first album 'Carisma' in 2005, which included the song 'El Sol y la Luna.' That track became their most recognizable work, though it also brought some accusations of plagiarism that the band denied.
Their catalog grew with albums like 'El Reino' in 2007, 'La Caída' in 2009, and 'El Cielo' in 2012. Later additions to the lineup included keyboardist Alan Ortiz and drummer Iñaki Vázquez, while Orozco and Garza stayed at the center. Other songs in their repertoire include 'Obstinado,' 'Ahora estoy sin ti,' and 'Alucinado.'
By 2018 they had released 'El Bosque,' marking over a decade of recording. Their music often leaned toward alternative rock with a reflective tone, but they avoided sticking to one formula across those six studio albums.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
