Zappy Max formed in Paris in 1973, with Michel Fugain, Roland Romanelli, and Pierre Papadiamandis as core members. Their debut album came out in 1975, featuring the song "Ah! Le Petit Vin Blanc," which became widely popular in France. Other songs from that period include "Avec Bidasse" and "Sérénade Près de Mexico."
In 1976, Papadiamandis was arrested for drug possession, which affected the band's public image. They kept recording through the late 1970s, putting out albums like "Face à Face" in 1977 and "Capitale d'Europe" in 1979. Claude Engel played bass and Gérard Bikialo was their drummer during those years.
Their music, including tracks like "Ça Sent Si Bon La France" and "Dans Ma Péniche," stayed in circulation even after the group's active period wound down. "Ah!
