Zarabacana was a Brazilian band that formed in the early 2000s with Alê Muniz on vocals, André Leite on bass, Pedro Menezes on guitar, and Bruno Macedo on drums. Their self-titled debut album came out in 2005 and included the hit 'Fale Amor,' which helped them find an audience.
Their music mixed Brazilian rhythms with pop and electronic touches. Beyond 'Fale Amor,' they had songs like 'Sonho Bom' and 'Você Marcou em Mim (Menina).' They put out three more albums after the first one: Z2 in 2008, Z3 in 2010, and Z4 in 2013.
In 2007, a festival performance drew criticism from some conservative groups, which led to a few canceled shows. The band kept working, and their lyrics sometimes touched on social themes. They collaborated with artists including Manu Chao, Jorge Drexler, and Buena Vista Social Club. Zarabacana stopped playing together in 2014.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
