Zaral formed in 1992 in Mexico City with Omar Ruvalcaba on vocals, Rodrigo Martínez on guitar, Javier Lazcano on bass, and Ernesto Sánchez on drums. Their debut album 'Sentimientos' came out in 1994, and its single 'Amor' became a major hit.
Martínez and Sánchez left the band in 2001. Ruvalcaba and Lazcano kept going with new members, releasing albums like 'Sueños' in 1996, 'Esperanza' in 1999, and 'Infinito' in 2003. In 2005, there were accusations that their song 'No Sé Olvidar' borrowed from a traditional folk tune, which the band denied.
Later musicians who played with Zaral included guitarists Adan Jodorowsky and Alex Otaola, and drummers Alan Álvarez and César Güemes. Their music has appeared in films and television shows.
