Zarau formed in 2002 in the Basque Country, with Iñigo Muguruza on vocals and guitar, Koldo Izagirre on bass, and Xabier Montoia on drums. Their debut album 'Gezurrak' came out in 2004 and included the song 'Cs Nacional.' They've put out three more albums since then: 'Zarra' in 2006, 'Hiri' in 2009, and 'Hara' in 2012.
'Cs Nacional' became their most recognized track. The song's lyrics touched on Basque identity and social themes, which drew some criticism at the time. The band's sound pulled from Basque folk traditions alongside alternative rock influences.
Zarau's music has appeared in some films and television shows, and they've played at festivals. The three original members have stayed together through their recording years.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
