Zarillo was an Italian duo active in the early 2000s, made up of Stefano Zarillo and Candida Lerario. Stefano handled vocals and lyrics, while Candida, a classically trained cellist, brought that instrument into their sound. They kept to themselves, rarely giving interviews or appearing publicly, which fed a lot of speculation about who they were and what they were doing.
Their music found an audience anyway. The song "Dimmi Chi Dorme Accanto A Me" became a notable track for them, its melancholic tone pulling listeners in. They also recorded other songs like "Una rosa blu" and "Il canto del mare."
They released their debut album under the pseudonym "Adagio" before putting out a self-titled record in 2004 that featured their better-known single. After that, they seemed to step away from music publicly. Their sparse catalog and private nature left their work feeling more like a brief, curious chapter than a conventional career.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
