Zatt Rock formed in São Paulo in 1983, with Marcelo Nova on vocals and guitar, Edgard Scandurra on guitar, Ricardo Gaspa on bass, and Frederico Lima on drums. They put out their first album that same year. Their song 'Volta Para Mim' became particularly well-known, along with 'Vou Esperar.'
They released several albums through the late 1980s and early 1990s, including 'Heróis da Resistência' in 1985 and 'Puro Êxtase' in 1987. Their lyrics sometimes drew criticism from more conservative listeners in Brazil at the time.
Their music connected with a lot of young people in Brazil during the country's shift toward democracy. The band's straightforward rock sound and direct lyrics gave them a place in that period's cultural conversation.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
