Zax formed in Madrid in the early 2000s, with Carlos Jaramillo on lead vocals and guitar, Erika Corrales on keyboards, Juan Pablo Velez on bass, and Javier Ramirez on drums. Their debut album "En La Oscuridad" came out in 2004. The song "Mirando a La Luna" appeared in 2006 and became their most recognizable track, along with "Llegaste." They released albums through 2014, including "El Regreso" in 2009 and "In Your Dreams" in 2014.
In 2009, drummer Javier Ramirez died in a car accident. Lead singer Carlos Jaramillo later dealt with depression and substance abuse, which led to a break in the band's activity for a while. The group's sound drew from Spanish pop with some influence from bands like Coldplay and U2, built around introspective lyrics and melodic arrangements.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
