Zayda y Los Culpables formed in Mexico City around 2006, led by vocalist Zayda Peña. Their debut album 'De Contrabando' came out in 2008, which included the track of the same name that became widely known. The band's sound mixed traditional Mexican music with hip-hop and jazz elements.
They followed with albums like 'Alma de Barrio' in 2011, 'La Rebelión de los Sueños' in 2014, and 'La Complicada' in 2018. Other songs in their catalog include 'Sed de Un Romántico' and 'Tiro de gracia'. Their lineup has included Guillermo Ortega on guitar, José Luis Hernández on bass, Alejandro Martínez on drums, and Héctor Hernández on saxophone.
Zayda y Los Culpables have worked with artists such as Lila Downs, Celso Piña, and La Mala Rodríguez.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
