Archive material and source history
Zaza & Bubble Girls formed in 1994 when vocalist Zaza met the musicians who became known as the Bubble Girls. They released their debut album 'Yoo Dai Mai' in 1996, with the title track becoming their most recognizable song.
Their music combined traditional Thai melodies with Western pop elements, though their unconventional style initially faced resistance from parts of the Thai music industry. The group included Zaza as frontwoman with Aoy on keyboards, Lek on guitar, Pui on bass, and Nok on drums.
They released several albums through the late 1990s including 'Mai Mai' in 1997 and 'Zaza & Bubble Girls III' in 1998. Their lyrics sometimes addressed themes that drew criticism from conservative elements in Thai society. The band disbanded in 2004.
