Zaza Kanto formed in Madagascar, with Zaza Andriamanonjy on lead vocals, Tovo Rakotovao on guitar, Jean Claude Randrianarisoa on bass, and Tahina Rakotondradria on drums. Their debut album came out in 2003 and included the song "Na Miolakolaka Ho Aiza Ianao," which became widely known in the country.
They released several more albums over the next decade, including Tontosa in 2005, Tolo-tsaina in 2007, Fitia Tsy Tapitra in 2010, and Tendrombohitr'an-dranomaso in 2014. The band's music sometimes drew political attention, and there was a legal issue when "Na Miolakolaka Ho Aiza Ianao" was used without permission in a commercial.
In 2018, Zaza Andriamanonjy had surgery, which paused the band's performances for a while. Their work has been heard by many listeners in Madagascar and elsewhere.
