Zazu formed in Los Angeles in the early 2000s as a trio with Emily Bannon on vocals, Paul Van Camp on guitar, and John Frusciante on bass. They released their debut album 'In the Garden' in 2003, which got some critical attention but didn't break through commercially.
Their second album in 2006, also called 'All I Can Say', changed things. The title track became their breakthrough hit, and songs like 'Judas 2.0' and 'Nitroglycerine' showed their range. Bannon's outspoken views on social issues during this period drew both support and criticism, adding another layer to the band's public presence.
After a hiatus around 2010 when Bannon dealt with personal challenges, they returned with 'The Beginning' in 2012. That album marked a shift toward more experimental territory compared to their earlier work. They put out four albums total between 2003 and 2012.
