Zazukada came together in Rio de Janeiro in the late 1990s, mixing samba, funk, reggae, and electronic music into what people started calling Tropical Funk. Their debut album 'A Nova Onda' came out in 2003, with the title track becoming a hit in Brazil and helping them find an audience outside the country.
They've put out several albums since then, including 'Festa na Favela' in 2005, 'Roda Viva' in 2008, and 'Tudo Pode Acontecer' in 2013. Their music has appeared in films and television shows, and they've worked with other Brazilian artists like Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, and Seu Jorge.
Their lyrics often touch on social issues and inequality, which has sometimes drawn criticism alongside support. The band includes vocalists Pedro Luis, Marcelo D2, and B Negão, with Max de Castro on bass and Wallace Pozzebon on drums.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
