Ze Bananeiro formed in Rio de Janeiro in the late 1990s with Pedro Baby on vocals and guitar, Pedro Guedes on bass, and Pedro Henriques on drums. Their name came from a playful reference to Brazil's iconic fruit, and they worked with elements of samba, bossa nova, and rock.
Their 2003 debut album 'Três Corações' gave them their breakthrough, with the title track becoming a hit. That song, along with 'Carreiro Sebastiao' and 'Vara de Ferrão,' showed their approach to melody and rhythm.
Some of their lyrics about love and social themes drew criticism from conservative listeners at the time. The band also dealt with internal tensions that affected their work.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
