Zé Carreiro e Pardinho were a Brazilian sertanejo duo from Jaguariúna in southeastern Brazil. Zé Roberto Gomes (Zé Carreiro) and José Alves dos Santos (Pardinho) started playing together in the mid-1950s, signing with Chantecler Records in 1964. Their 1969 song 'Cada Coisa Em Seu Lugar' became one of their most enduring recordings.
Their music drew from traditional sertanejo rhythms while incorporating elements of country and folk. Songs like 'Rei Dos Canoeiros' and 'Boiadeiro Feliz' reflected rural Brazilian life, with lyrics about work, love, and the countryside. They released albums including 'Pé na Estrada' in 1965 and 'Explode Coração' in 1968.
Zé Carreiro died in 2008, Pardinho in 2019. Their partnership lasted over five decades, with songs like 'Pai João' and 'Cobra Grande' remaining familiar to Brazilian audiences long after their recording career ended.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
