Archive material and source history
Zé Catraca is a Brazilian music collective that formed in Itacaré, Bahia in the early 2000s. They started playing local bars and festivals, with Vinícius Nogueira on vocals and guitar, André Lima on bass, Marcos Borges on drums, and Ricardo Mota handling percussion and vocals.
Their debut album came out in 2007, titled "Ensinando Beira Mar." The title track became their most recognizable song.
They followed that album with others like "Pelo Avesso" in 2010, "Quebra Cabeça" in 2014, and "Lata Velha" in 2018. The group faced financial constraints and lost a founding member along the way, but kept performing.
