Ze de Castro

Ze de Castro first gained attention in the early 1970s as a vocalist for the Brazilian psychedelic rock band Os Mutantes. After a few years with the group, he went solo and released his debut album 'Quem Sou Eu' in 1976. That record included 'Estou Tentando Te Esquecer,' a song that became his most recognizable work.

His music often dealt with romantic disappointment and longing, with songs like 'Te Amei de Mais' and 'Amor Frio' following similar emotional territory. The straightforward delivery and melancholic melodies in these tracks connected with Brazilian audiences during the late 1970s and early 1980s.

He continued recording through the mid-1980s, putting out albums like 'O Homem do Povo' and 'Contemporâneo.' While his later work didn't achieve the same level of recognition as his early material, songs like 'Fofoqueira' and 'Brilho do Sol' maintained his focus on personal relationships and everyday situations.
