Ze do Tantan was a musical collective from São Paulo, Brazil, led by vocalist and percussionist Zezinho Correa. They worked with traditional Afro-Brazilian rhythms, samba, and funk, creating a sound that felt both rooted and contemporary. Their 2000 debut album included the track 'No Batuque do Tambor,' which became something of an anthem for them.
In 2002, that same song was at the center of a plagiarism accusation that led to a legal dispute. The band's lineup included Fabio Santana on cavaquinho and vocals and Bruno Silva on drums. They recorded several albums through the 2000s, like 'Papo Furado' in 2003 and 'Iê' in 2007, and collaborated with musicians including Carlinhos Brown and Gilberto Gil.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
