Zé Guilherme & Alexandre

Zé Guilherme was born in Goiás in 1947, and Alexandre came from Minas Gerais a year later. They started performing together in 1972 after meeting in the late 1960s. Their second album, 'Enquanto o Sonho Não Vem,' included 'Amor de Cinderela,' which became their most recognizable song.

That ballad, along with tracks like 'Coração Profano,' helped define their place in Brazilian sertanejo during the 1970s. They kept recording through the decade, putting out albums such as 'Encontro Marcado' in 1974 and 'Transformação' the following year.

Zé Guilherme handled most of the vocals while Alexandre played guitar. They worked with other musicians occasionally, like drummer Paulo César and bassist José Eustáquio. The duo's sound mixed sertanejo foundations with straightforward romantic themes, which found an audience despite some early resistance from labels.
