He started playing music at local gatherings, drawing from the traditional forró rhythms of the region. In the late 1970s, he joined the band Forrozão dos Cabras as a singer and accordionist.
His 1982 debut album, titled 'Bicho Cabeludo,' became a national hit, with the title track propelling him to wider recognition. The song 'Pitbull' is another of his well-known tracks. He has released numerous albums since, including 'Só pra Você' in 1986 and 'Forró de Cabo a Rabo' in 1990.
