Zé Neto e Gabriel started playing together in São José do Rio Preto around 2011, performing at local bars and festivals. They became known as Os Muleque Piranha, a nickname that stuck and even became the title of one of their songs. Their sound worked within the sertanejo tradition but had enough modern energy to connect with younger listeners.
In 2015, they broke through with 'Na Minha CG,' a song about riding a motorcycle that became a massive hit. That track, along with others like 'Ta Com Saudade de Mim' and 'Pinga de Engenho,' helped establish them as a major presence in Brazilian country music. They recorded several live albums, including 'Ao Vivo em Barretos' in 2016 and 'Por Mais Beijos Ao Vivo' in 2019.
Their career wasn't without friction. In 2020, their comments about the COVID-19 pandemic drew significant criticism. They kept performing and releasing music through it all, putting out 'Chama Meu Nome' in 2021. Zé Neto handled most of the lead vocals, while Gabriel provided harmonies and instrumental work.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
