Zé Peão & Luciano

Zé Peão & Luciano formed in the mid-1980s in Catalão, Goiás. Their music drew from traditional sertanejo and rock influences, which felt unconventional at the time. They built a following playing small venues before their 1988 album 'Jeito Rude' brought them wider attention. The title track became something of an anthem, its raw energy connecting with listeners.

Their sound mixed sertanejo with rock elements, and their lyrics often spoke plainly about rural life. This approach drew criticism from some conservative corners of the sertanejo scene, who found it too rough or vulgar. But it also earned them a devoted audience who saw their music as reflecting real experiences. Songs like 'Bora Pro Bar Beber' carried that straightforward, unpolished quality.

They released several albums through the 1990s, including 'Trem do Interior' in 1990 and 'O Cheiro da Terra' in 1992. Zé Peão handled lead vocals and guitar, while Luciano played lead guitar and contributed backing vocals. Their work resonated particularly in rural Brazil, where the themes in their music felt familiar.
