Zeauxi is a Toronto trio that formed in 2016. The band includes Kyle Cunningham on vocals and guitar, Murray Lightburn on bass, and Steve Krehm on drums. They put out their first album 'False Readings' in 2017, which featured the song 'July on Film.'
That track, 'July on Film,' became something of a quiet signature for them. It's a slow, atmospheric piece with layered vocals and a dreamy guitar line that caught on in some film and television placements. They followed up with a second album called 'Careening' in 2021.
Their sound tends toward the atmospheric and introspective, built around electric guitars, bass, drums, and keyboards. Cunningham's vocals often sit in the mix with a hazy, harmonized quality. The writing touches on themes of memory and transience, though they keep things fairly open-ended lyrically.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
