Zeca Alencar came up in the Brazilian sertanejo scene, with his song 'Fui Errado' becoming something of an anthem. It's a ballad of regret that connected with a lot of people, and it's still the track he's most known for. He was born in Juazeiro do Norte, Ceará, and his music draws from the traditional sounds of Northeastern Brazil, like forró and baião.
His debut album was 'Sanfona e Acordeon' in 1994, but it was the 1997 follow-up, 'Meu Mundo É o Sertão,' that really broke through. That's the album that had 'Fui Errado' on it. Other songs like 'Laço De Fita' and 'Um Berrante Vadio' are part of his catalog, which leans into the themes and instrumentation of the sertão.
He performed with a band called Zeca Alencar & Forró Real, which included musicians like Cicero Silva on accordion and Roniere Gomes on electric guitar. The sound was built around that traditional Northeastern setup, with the accordion front and center alongside his vocals.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
