Zeca do Forró is a Brazilian forró band that formed in Fortaleza in 1996. The group is led by vocalist and accordionist José Batista de Sousa Neto, who goes by the name Zeca do Forró. Their music blends traditional forró with contemporary rhythms, which was seen as unconventional when they started.
In 2005, the song "Da Crise Não Escapa" became a national hit. Its lyrics about economic hardship resonated widely, helping propel the band to greater recognition. Other tracks like "Faz Um Pix" and "Sextou" have also been popular.
The band has released albums including "É o Forró que Tá na Moda" (1998), "Forró de Verdade" (2002), and "Ao Vivo em Fortaleza" (2006). They've worked with artists like Elba Ramalho and Alceu Valença. The current lineup includes Zeca do Forró on vocals and accordion, Igor do Forró on bass, Xandinho do Forró on guitar, and Baba do Forró on drums.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
