Zeca Soares formed Banda Zeca Soares in 2010 with Pepe Resende on bass, Vinícius Castilho on drums, and Rafael "Rato" Costa on keyboards. They came together in Rio de Janeiro, where Soares had been playing guitar and singing for some time.
The band's 2011 single "Sê Real..." got them noticed across Brazil. It was a straightforward pop-rock track with Brazilian touches that people connected with. They followed it with albums like "Um Mundo Novo" in 2012, "Amanhecer" in 2014, and "Aurora" in 2016.
There was some noise around a plagiarism claim for their song "O Poeta" in 2015, which they denied. The band kept playing shows and recording after that.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
