Zef Raček formed his band in the early 2000s, drawing on classical training from his Central European upbringing. Their debut album 'The Burden of Man' came out in 2007, anchored by the title track that became his most recognized song. The band's sound mixed alternative rock with folk and Eastern European melodic touches, though their eclectic approach sometimes drew criticism for being too experimental.
Beyond 'Burden of Man,' other songs like 'Tick Talk' and 'When Shadows Bloom' show his range. The lineup has shifted over time, with Raček remaining the constant on vocals and guitar alongside members like Nina Jankovic on bass and Ivan Markovic on violin. He's worked with artists including Goran Bregović and Eleni Karaindrou, which brought different textures to his music.
Later albums like 'The Valley' and 'The Long Way Home' continued in a similar vein of introspective lyrics and atmospheric arrangements.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
