Zeferino Ben formed a band in the early 2000s with guitarist Henrique Bittencourt, bassist Rodrigo Brandão, drummer Peixe, and keyboardist Renato Azambuja. They came from the Morro do Chapadão neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro, where samba, funk, and soul were part of the local sound.
Their debut album 'Senhor Sabe' came out in 2008, with the title track becoming a hit. The song's lyrics about poverty and violence drew some criticism at the time. They followed it with albums like 'Caderno de Notas' in 2010 and 'Chão' in 2013.
Later records included 'Rascunho' in 2018. Other songs in their catalog include 'Missionário Vai', 'Ser Feliz', and 'Obrigado Deus'. The band played festivals outside Brazil and toured in Europe and the Americas.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
