Zehava Ben started singing in the late 1970s. Her song 'At Li Lailah' became a standard in Israel. She worked with guitarist and arranger Gil Dor for years, along with percussionist Zohar Fresco and keyboardist Yossi Fine.
Her music mixed Middle Eastern sounds with Western styles. She recorded over a dozen albums, including 'Ha'kol Be'seder' in 1986 and 'Shalom La'ahava' in 2016. Other songs like 'Geshem Shel Brachah' and 'Aba Sheli' show her range.
Ben was known for speaking out on social issues, which sometimes drew criticism. She kept making music through it, releasing albums like 'Sof Ha'derech' in 2021.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
