Zekah formed in Mexico City in the early 2000s with Alex Otaola, Luigi Balestra, Santiago Ojeda, and Yair Durán. They put out their first album, Sueños y Realidades, in 2007. A few years later, their song Ilusiones became a hit, mixing reggae and Latin pop in a way that caught on with listeners.
They've kept that lineup steady and released other albums like Horizonte, La Nueva Era, and Evolución. Their music often touches on social issues, which has sometimes stirred conversation. They've worked with other artists including Julieta Venegas and Ely Guerra.
You can hear their approach in songs like SINCERO, which carries that same blend of styles and straightforward lyrical tone. They're still putting out records and playing shows, sticking with the sound they built from the start.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
