Zeli formed in Rio de Janeiro around 2017, a group of musicians led by vocalist Ana Carolina Zeli. Their debut single "Nos Matamos (part. Kid Filly)" caught attention with its direct approach to complicated relationships, giving them an early foothold in Brazil's music landscape.
They followed with a debut album also called "Nos Matamos" in 2019, then put out the more exploratory "Eterno Retorno" in 2021. Ana Carolina's writing often addressed social issues, which sometimes drew criticism alongside praise. The band's core included Thiago Rebello on bass, Bernardo Fonseca on drums, Luísa Camargo on keyboards and vocals, and Pedro Dantas on percussion.
In 2023 they released the EP "Flores da Maldade," continuing to work with themes of love and personal struggle. Their music maintained a raw, emotionally charged quality that connected with listeners who appreciated its unfiltered perspective.
